ABOUT OUR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

SMART 100’s Sheet Metal Workers’ Apprenticeship Program is a combination of classroom work and on-the-job training. The program teaches technical and professional skills to prepare apprentices for a chance at a rewarding career. New classes start every three (3) months. Applicants will be notified of scheduled test dates.

The Sheet Metal Workers’ Apprenticeship is a five-year training program which includes the following:

  • 40 hours per week of on-the-job instruction
  • Classroom instruction one day every two weeks

Please note that your application will remain on file for 6 months after you apply. After 6 months, please call the Training Center at (301-568-8655 Ext. 2) to reactivate your application. Please do not submit a second application.

WASHINGTON

Local 100 maintains training centers in each of their area offices for the purpose of training apprentices to become journeymen sheet metal workers and for the purpose of specialized training for our current journeymen members. Contact the JATC office for additional information about our training programs.

NIGHT AND WEEKEND CLASSES

SMART Local 100 offers the following night classes:

  • CAD I (14 Weeks)
  • CAD II (20 Weeks)
  • MIG Welding, (10 Weeks)
  • Sketching (14 Weeks) perquisite to CAD I & CAD II)
  • TIG Welding (10 Weeks)
  • Service Class (20 Weeks)
  • Stick Welding (20 Weeks)
  • TAB (20 Weeks)

We also offer the following Saturday classes:

  • CPR/First Aid (There is an online course available. Please contact John Dumler at 301-568-8655 Ext. 143 for instructions)
  • OSHA 30

Welding Certification Testing Date is every first Wednesday of the Month. Certifications start at 4:00 p.m. If you are planning to attend, please call Frank Santora 301-568-8655 Ext. 141 to reserve a place. Welding Certification Fee is $25 and the update fee is $10.
